What did you do/study prior to coming to Derby?

I received a BEng in Electronics and Communications Engineering

Why did you choose to go to the University of Derby?

I liked the modules on offer. Also, meeting with the program leader at the university open day helped me confirm my decision.

Did you start the course with a specific focus or were you undecided?

I was undecided and quite wanting to broaden my horizons.

Did that focus change on the course? If so, how?

Yes, during the course and especially during the final dissertation period I found out that I was most interested in the engineering behind sound systems and DSP.

What was the most useful thing you learned on the course?

How to find and critically analyse information.

What did you do on the course that you never thought you would enjoy?

I wasn’t really keen on programming upon starting the course, but I took the course as an opportunity to ‘force’ me to practice it a little it and I eventually ended up liking it.

What is your most memorable moment from Derby?

I really liked staying in the music studios at night with some coursemates.

What/who at Derby most influenced your life, and how/why?

I was really driven by the passion of the lecturers.

What would you say to a Derby first year student, knowing what you know now?

Try to make the most out of it. Exchange with others and don’t be afraid to ask.

What have you done professionally since graduating?

I’ve been working as a R&D engineer at NEXO from two months after my graduation on.

Have any Derby alumni or staff opened any doors for you? If so, who?

Dr. Adam Hill helped me reaching out to d&b audiotechnik. The dissertation work I made with them helped me getting my current job.

What is your most memorable moment from your career so far?

I don’t really know but I can say that I work in a very friendly environment and that’s a thing that cannot always be taken for granted.

What are your future career plans/ambitions?

I’m not sure at the moment but I don’t think I’ll be looking for a new job any time soon!
