As part of an ongoing relationship with the local community, some of our first and second year BSc (Hons) Sound, Light and Live Event Technology students recently provided lighting and assistance with sound for Circus Hub’s Cabaret evening.

The Hub runs regular classes across a variety of circus disciplines, many of them aerial based. Their venue, Unit 2 in Nelson Street, Nottingham is the backdrop for the performance space. White walls, high ceiling and compact nature provide reasonable challenges for the students involved. Space is at a premium, with close proximity to performers, and no facilities to hang fixtures. The mobile audience offers additional hurdles.

The lighting rig, therefore, needed to be small yet capable of lighting aerial performances throughout the space. Our students were up to the challenge and successfully lit the evenings entertainment.
